Hurricane Sandy

- "Bismillah. Dear All, as you know, Hurricane Sandy has left many New Yorkers left still without power, many are in shelters and temporary housing, and our transportation issues still exist. Our ICNA chapter has been heavily involved with ICNA Relief in helping with recovery efforts in the fronts of mucking and gutting out homes, getting people registered with FEMA, and food & supply distributio
n. Our executive board has made a decision to cancel the upcoming conference on Islamophobia, allowing us to focus on Sandy recovery efforts, which is of highest importance right now. One of the most powerful ways to dissolve Islamophobia is through our actions. By joining in the efforts to help Sandy survivors, something that Islam enjoins Muslims to do, can effectively eradicate Islamophobia. We encourage everyone to join us in these efforts through your time, money and prayers. Please see http://icnarelief.org/
and http://muslimspitchin.org/
to see how you can help."

Garage Sale ... Proceedings to go to ICNA Relief Dallas Food Pantry ...

Assalamu Alaikum WRH Brothers & Sisters,

When one intends to help an individual or an organization and makes an earnest effort, our beloved creator Allah swt opens many avenues to choose. Our respected sisters from East Plano & Murphy choose one such avenue using which they would galvanize the community's help into donating house hold items which are gently  used or are in excess or in no use at all.

This effort of collecting items started in the first week of this month, and Shukur Alhamdulillah, we were able to stack a decent variety of items. More is anticipated down the line. Insha Allah, under the leadership of Sr. Shazia Al Hasan, the garage sale event will get conducted this month end. If you would like to donate the items in conditions mentioned above, please feel free to call Sr. Shazia Al Hasan (
832-279-5893), and drop them at the venue mentioned by her.

If there is a will there is a way..

Assalamu Alaikum WRH Brothers and Sisters,

Couple of months back, a group of our sisters formulated a plan to help an organization. Rather than directly helping financially they conducted a
GARAGE SALE. They received tremendous support from the community and Shukur Alhamdulillah, they made a decent collection and thus ended up helping the organization. It ended up as a Win Win situation. As said, If there's a will, there is a way.

Now, the same sisters want to repeat this noble exercise. This time, they want to help ICNA Relief Dallas Food Pantry.

What started as a help providing food for the refugees along with rental / utility assistance, ICNA Relief Dallas opened a food pantry, in a place surrounded by
400
refugee families, facilitating them with much needed food help. We are currently serving every week 30 families of various ethnicity from Burma, Iraq, Nepal, Bhutan, Tunisia, Somalia, Sudan, Ghana, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Liberia. Every week approximately 1500 lbs of food gets distributed evenly. We have a proper procedure in place and everything is audited neat and clean.

Shukur Alhamdulillah, Not a single grain goes waste.

Pray to our beloved creator Allah swt that everyone would be in His safest custody, and enjoying a good health. Aameen.

All praises are to our beloved creator Allah swt without His mercy, we would not be where we are now.

With the advent of summer holidays, Masha Allah, its a wonderful sight to view our youth's population in the masajids is on the increase. It gives me immense pleasure to view our future generation participating in all the novel programs, the DFW metroplex masajids have devised to engage them.
ICNA Relief Dallas Food Pantry is one such novel program made available to our DFW metroplex youth. They can volunteer in our food pantry, in a pristine environment which we cater to our youth. Shukur Alhamdulillah.
To help us channelize the contributions received from donors, help is certainly needed. And our beloved creator Allah swt blessed us with YOU, Youth.
Jazak Allahu Khairan for the blessed parents who motivated their youth and now they are already part of our food pantry program.

Helping The Needy & Hopeful ...

Assalaamu Alaikum WRH Brothers & Sisters

Pray to our beloved creator that everyone would be in His safest custody, and enjoying a good health. Aameen.

Nobody is more compassionate and merciful than our beloved creator, sustainer, cherisher Allah swt. And by the blessings of Allah swt, our beloved prophet Muhammed (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him) lived his life portraying full of mercy and compassion. There used to be
Baitul Maal in those days which used to serve financially deprived ones.

And I hope you'd be aware of the famous incident where our respected 2nd Caliph Umar (RA) picked a bag full of flour and other ingredients on his back to feed a widowed lady with children.

Last week I received a call from a respected ICNA sister, regarding a need for food for a newly revert Hispanic sister, Esmeralda Diaz.

Communicating with Sr Esmeralda a single parent, I came to know that she is undergoing a tough patch in her life, struggling to survive with 5 children. Recently, her van broke down on a highway and got towed away. Lack of funds made her loose her only mode of transportation.

Based on her family size, I packed the food from the
ICNA Relief Dallas Food Pantry, which you've donated and paid her a visit. Her house was neat and clean. Upon questioning, she responded she used to be in housekeeping job, but due to lack of transportation, she lost all of them. She prioritized ICNA Relief Dallas to help her find a job to support herself.

Our beloved creator Allah SWT has unique means and avenues to help His slaves. Same evening, I came across a Musalli of my masjid who owns a restaurant and needed an extra hand.

ICNA Relief Dallas facilitated her the job, and now, Alhamdulillah, Sr. Esmeralda Diaz has a job, supporting herself.  Hopefully she would save enough money to buy a used van soon. Please support ICNA Relief Dallas and remember us and  Sr. Esmeralda Diaz in your prayers.

Baby Fish Needs No Swimming Lessons

Assalaamu Alaikum WRH Brothers & Sisters
I hope and pray you'd all be doing great by the will & mercy of our beloved creator Allah swt.

No wonder why no animal planet / national geographic channel show a Papa Fish teaching its Baby Fish how to swim. The moment the egg gets hatched, out pops the baby fish swimming instantly.

Some may claim its the instinct, and some may talk about the blue print of genes embedded in the sibling. But most of us would agree that every action occurs only by the will of our beloved creator Allah swt. Masha Allah

Its been 5 years since I moved from Overland Park, KS and had been regularly visiting my local masjid. From the Day1, I had been noticing Br. Sammer Khaleeli as a regular musalli not only using the facility for praying, but always indulging into masjid activities.

You name it, Br. Sammer is there. I've noticed him in the masjid at odd times, working on the plumbing issue, configuring the Video setup, adjusting the audio system's volume, vacuuming the carpet. You name it, he is always there.

Today, this noble soul had been our visitor with his three kids, Eman, Emaad & Eyaad. As mentioned earlier, no Papa fish teaches its sibling to swim. I noticed the same traits in Br. Sammer's children too.

They were well disciplined, listened patiently to my orientation, performed a well orchestrated help whenever it was needed. They went beyond their expectations, and helped an old 70 years Bhutanese woman by dropping her 75 lbs food supply to her house. Masha Allah.

After a day's work, one always return home bone tired, but I carry these heart warming experiences, only to jot down and share it with you all. Isn't it encouraging.

Of course, Yes.
Get your children involved in this noble task, and received the much needed signed volunteer hours.

We do have slots available for volunteer & food donation help, Saturday & Sunday  (10 AM - 2 PM).
Feel free to call me to book your timings.   My cell# (214) 298 5857

And I don't have to tell you, I know you would surely pick some of the grocery items pasted below for YOUR food pantry.

Beef, Meat, Chicken(1 lbs packs)
Milk (Vitamin D) 2 gallons pack,
Eggs (12 or 18, in 1 box).
Shaving Cream,  Shaving Blades,
Diapers (all sizes),  Salt (1 lbs), Sugar (1 lbs)
Cooking Oil (0.5 gallon or less) packs,
Rice bags (10 lbs)

Pray to our beloved creator Allah swt to protect us, our families and our extended families from all kinds of calamities, diseases, problems. Aameen.
Make us feel content with whatever He with His utmost grace has bestowed upon us. Aameen.
 Give barakah in our sustenance,
Resolve all our problems we are facing,
Unite our hearts,
Melt away all our differences,
Give us strength enough to forgive others &
Carry on the good work. Aameen.
