Baby Fish Needs No Swimming Lessons

Assalaamu Alaikum WRH Brothers & Sisters
I hope and pray you'd all be doing great by the will & mercy of our beloved creator Allah swt.

No wonder why no animal planet / national geographic channel show a Papa Fish teaching its Baby Fish how to swim. The moment the egg gets hatched, out pops the baby fish swimming instantly.

Some may claim its the instinct, and some may talk about the blue print of genes embedded in the sibling. But most of us would agree that every action occurs only by the will of our beloved creator Allah swt. Masha Allah

Its been 5 years since I moved from Overland Park, KS and had been regularly visiting my local masjid. From the Day1, I had been noticing Br. Sammer Khaleeli as a regular musalli not only using the facility for praying, but always indulging into masjid activities.

You name it, Br. Sammer is there. I've noticed him in the masjid at odd times, working on the plumbing issue, configuring the Video setup, adjusting the audio system's volume, vacuuming the carpet. You name it, he is always there.

Today, this noble soul had been our visitor with his three kids, Eman, Emaad & Eyaad. As mentioned earlier, no Papa fish teaches its sibling to swim. I noticed the same traits in Br. Sammer's children too.

They were well disciplined, listened patiently to my orientation, performed a well orchestrated help whenever it was needed. They went beyond their expectations, and helped an old 70 years Bhutanese woman by dropping her 75 lbs food supply to her house. Masha Allah.

After a day's work, one always return home bone tired, but I carry these heart warming experiences, only to jot down and share it with you all. Isn't it encouraging.

Of course, Yes.
Get your children involved in this noble task, and received the much needed signed volunteer hours.

We do have slots available for volunteer & food donation help, Saturday & Sunday  (10 AM - 2 PM).
Feel free to call me to book your timings.   My cell# (214) 298 5857

The Evil you do remains with you,   The Good you do comes back to you ...

Assalaamu Alaikum WRH Brothers & Sisters
Before I start the story I would like to quote a couple of verses from Quran and a beautiful saying of our beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

"So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it. And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it."
Quran 99.7-...8  - Surah Al-Zalzala

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira(may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said,"He who intended to do good, but did not do it, one good was recorded for him, and he who intended to do good and also did it, ten to seven hundred good deeds were recorded for him. And he who intended evil, but did not commit it, no entry was made against his name, but if he committed that, it was recorded."   ---   Muslim 236

A woman baked chapatti (roti) for members of her family and an extra one for a hungry passerby. She kept the extra chapatti on the window sill, for whosoever would take it away. Every day, a hunchback came and took away the chapatti. Instead of expressing gratitude, he muttered the following words as he went his way: "The evil you do remains with you:
The good you do, comes back to you!" This went on, day after day.

Every day, the hunchback came, picked up the chapatti and uttered the words: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" The woman felt irritated. "Not a word of gratitude," she said to herself...

"Everyday this hunchback utters this jingle! What does he mean?" One day, exasperated, she decided to do away with him. "I shall get rid of this hunchback," she said. And what did she do? She added poison to the chapatti she prepared for him! As she was about to keep it on the window sill, her hands trembled. "What is this I am doing?" she said. Immediately, she threw the chapatti into the fire, prepared another one and kept it on the window sill. As usual, the hunchback came, picked up the chapatti and muttered the words: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" The hunchback proceeded on his way, blissfully unaware of the war raging in the mind of the woman.

Every day, as the woman placed the chapatti on the window sill, she offered a prayer for her son who had gone to a distant place to seek his fortune. For many months, she had no news of him.. She prayed for his safe return. That evening, there was a knock on the door. As she opened it, she was surprised to find her son standing in the doorway. He had grown thin and lean. His garments were tattered and torn. He was hungry, starved and weak. As he saw his mother, he said, "Mom, it's a miracle I'm here. While I was but a mile away, I was so famished that I collapsed. I would have died, but just then an old hunchback passed by. I begged of him for a morsel of food, and he was kind enough to give me a whole chapatti. As he gave it to me, he said, "This is what I eat everyday: today, I shall give it to you, for your need is greater than mine!" " As the mother heard those words, her face turned pale.

She leaned against the door for support. She remembered the poisoned chapatti that she had made that morning. Had she not burnt it in the fire, it would have been eaten by her own son, and he would have lost his life! It was then that she realized the significance of the words:

"The evil you do remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!"

Band of Brotherhood --- Hasten to do GOOD...

Assalamu Alaikum WRH Brothers & Sisters,

Till the world breathes its last, there would surely be a group of people who would never delay an instance to do good and forbid evil. They will be systematic, well educated, and thoroughly professional.

I happened to come across such a group of brothers who were kind enough to well ahead booked their timings at the ICNA Relief Dallas Food Pantry. They wanted to put into best use, their after Fajr Sunday slumber time, which normally happens in most of the houses on Sunday.

They were punctual, well organized, understood quickly the mechanics, and started their task. What seems to be humongous task for me, turned out to be a task of ease for them. They unpacked their large amount of food donation of various sort, weighed all the ware house items, organized them according to their types, stacked them neatly.

Amazingly, amidst all these, they were all discussing Deen. Questions were posed, and answers were discussed. And in no time the whole place was well buzzing with activities like sorting, weighing, stacking and finally neatly vacuumed.

Pray to our beloved creator Allah swt to accept their services rendered in acquiring nothing but pure pleasure of Allah swt. Aameen.

By the way, today was our  first unofficial opening day of our food pantry. We were able to serve 12 clients (Iraqis, Burmese and Bhutanese) average up to 60 lbs of food to each family. We gave away 720 lbs of food today.

Our official opening day is 03/25/2012.

One can say, the train just left the station. But don't worry, we will surely accommodate all those who missed the train, soon in near future.

Spotted: Butterflies in ICNA Relief Dallas Food Pantry

Assalamu Alaikum WRH, Almighty God's peace and blessings be upon you all.

The day had just started at our ICNA Relief Dallas Food Pantry, and I was engrossed in totaling up the # of pounds of food that got modestly donated from sources in all the directions of DFW metroplex. It was still and I was the only living soul currently breathing down the totals. I noticed that 40 minutes had passed and as I was nearing to my end, stirring the stillness, was a whiff of fresh air laced with innocent laughter gathering momentum towards the door of our food pantry was felt immensely.

I looked up and realized a band of 3 little girls were coming towards the entrance along with their mother. I welcomed them inside as they were our guest, our assigned volunteers traveling from Irving, TX. As I was explaining the sister(mother) her role, she would be playing in the warehouse part of our food pantry, I noticed the keen wide eyes of the little of the 3 girls looking at me with full curiosity and interest, as if ready to burst into action.

As I was about to finish my knowledge transfer, I noticed the another sister too joined with her little daughter. I requested her to shadow the first sister.

Alhamdulillah, Shukur Alhamdulillah, (Praise be to our Almighty God, Thanks and again Praise be to our Almighty God)  both the sisters (Pray, Allah swt bless them and their families with nothing but BEST in all the aspect of their lives) took charge of the situation, and burst into action. What I noticed for the next two hours was a wonderful experience. As their mothers started weighing in the food items, these little sisters were bursting with energy, and were coordinating with each other, in following their mother's orders in unison. Alhamdulillah, there was not a single moment where things went awry. No accidental slips, no messing up.

These little sisters were like little butterflies fluttering  from aisle to aisle stacking the canned foods well in perfect sorted order, When more donation of needed food items, started pouring in, these little sisters accommodated them as well.

Nothing but pure prayer comes out of my heart for them. Pray to our beloved creator Allah swt to give these little sisters and their parents and family members nothing but the BEST in all the aspects of their lives. Aameen.

Give it a try, and let me know when you meet me at the Food Pantry, hopefully sooooon.

"I am a 3rd grader and I want to help you Uncle".
Our beloved creator Allah swt have created us in several colors, shades, nature spread across this planet, and the whole humanity should be thankful to Him for whatever He with His utmost mercy has bestowed upon us. Everyday is different and not always the same. One comes in contact with several people portraying different backgrounds in a single day. Some, whom we don't even remember and some leaves a mark on your soul forever.

As an operational manager, my job is to facilitate (rental / utilities / furniture / food assistance) refugees from different countries. When a family, who wants to donate their modestly used household items communicates to me, I pay them a visit and whatever is needed for our refugee brethren, I take it in ICNA Van, and deliver it the same day.

Today, I happened to visit a family in a very posh subdivision close to IANT masjid, Richardson, as they wanted to donate their gently used furniture and children clothes. To me it seems like the family elders are already aware of ICNA's programs ( Food Pantry, Refugee Assistance, Feed The Hungry, Dawah Booth, Back To School, Helping Need Family).

The moment the door was opened for me to enter, I noticed a little boy neatly dressed with innocent face, full of enthusiasm came rushing towards me, hands filled with something. When he came closer with full of zest and happiness, I noticed that he had a ziploc bag full of quarters, nickels and dimes. He was offering with his small hands this contribution of his.

Looking at me, he uttered, "I am a 3rd grader and I want to help you Uncle".

Listening to his sweet words, my heart melted, like a butter on a hot pan. His modest donation to me is equal to the crowning glory on a grand total done after a fund raiser.

His father proudly mentioned me that he had been saving his pocket money and wanted to help people. His father said, when I mentioned him about ICNA's work, he readily agreed to donate his modest savings. His father fondly calls him Yusufi*, and I assume his name is Yusuf*. My hands have collected contributions, donations from several donors, but never felt this warmth in my heart.

Pray to our beloved creator Allah swt to accept Yusufi and his parent's contribution and reward them nothing but the best in both the worlds. Also pray to our beloved creator Allah swt to bless those who sincerely work to bring betterment in other's lives. Aameen.

Yes, ICNA Dallas needs your help. We are about to open a Food Pantry (Address is jotted below) to serve nearly 400 refugee families dwelling in and around Pineland Drive area of Dallas. For the simple reason to facilitate these refugee families, we worked hard to find a place in their midst, so that they can walk to the ICNA Food Pantry and take the delivery of the food which Insha Allah, soon we will be distributing them.

Right now, we are working hard to establish the infrastructure of this Food Pantry. We have a doctor who donated a van modest enough to carry enough food. An IT professional bought us an upright freezer. Another brother is planning to help us buy metal racks. What we need very important is "FOOD". Without food the food pantry is nothing but an empty place.

Find below is the list which we have posted below. Please feel free to buy it for us. If you are too busy, then mail your contribution (Check made payable to ICNA Dallas), and we will do the needful. Address of ICNA office is highlighted below.

REMEMBER THIS IS YOUR FOOD PANTRY.

Please visit us with your family members, especially children. Let them volunteer here, and get their volunteer hours certified by ICNA Dallas.

Hunger takes No Vacation...

Assalamu Alaikum WRH Brothers and Sisters,

Hunger knows no religion, no boundaries, no worldly positions. It strikes every living organism. And as I happened to read in an article about hunger, this statement fits like a glove on a hand, "Hunger takes No Vacation".

Having moved most of the donated canned food items in boxes, contributed by family from McKinney, TX, who showed eager to help our food pantry, I was about to wrap up my day. One of my responsibility is to collect donated food for ICNA Dallas's food pantry. The time for maghrib (evening prayer) was fast approaching, and I wanted to reach IANT masjid to perform my salah. As I was about to lift my last box, I noticed an old Bhutani
man (Bhutan, a neighboring country to India and Nepal) was treading towards me. When he came closer, I noticed in his old wrinkled face a smile, emanating hope. His watery eyes portrayed the innumerable struggles he faced to be, where he seems to be now.

He, in his humble tone greeted me in Hindi. In hushed tone, he uttered, "Kya Kuch Khaane Ko Mil Sakta Hai?". Meaning, Can I get some food to eat. I responded in positive, and took him to our food pantry. On his way to the pantry, he mentioned his name as "Khada Nanda Chaubey". Unable to bear the atrocities of the Bhutan King, his family fled to Nepal. During this difficult times, he lost his only son, who left behind his wife and 4 little children. As he is old, he is unable to work anymore. His daughter in law's earnings is insufficient to feed all.

I handed over flour, oil, sugar, snacks items (for children), tea leaves to him enough for a week. In Bhutani culture, when someone helps another, the recipients in loud voice shouts "Jai Ho". I responded don't "Jai Ho" me, but to our beloved creator who made it possible for you to receive this food.

They say, "Eyes are the windows of your soul". Khada Nanda Chaubey's eyes portrayed gratitude as he bid farewell. Everyday, one earns a new experience coming in contact with people of different culture, nation, race.

ICNA Dallas's Food Pantry does need help to better serve these 400 families
of several ethnicity surrounding the pantry. We want to do a good and neat job. And in this aspect, we SURELY NEED YOUR VOLUNTEER hours. Please feel free to give me a call to book your time forthcoming saturday (03/10/2012), so that we can work on providing ample opportunities to all our community members. Students will have their volunteer hours certified and signed by ICNA Dallas.

REMEMBER THIS IS YOUR FOOD PANTRY.

"Innalaha Ma'as Sabireen" our beloved creator Allah SWT is with the patient people. So exercise patience.

Assalamu Alaikum WRH,

Jawaani Sirf 4 Din Ki, (Youth is just for 4 days) so make the most of it they say. People take pride in celebrating their birthdays, not realizing for the fact that they are inching their way towards their ultimate end. Everyone has their start and end date prescribed the day they swim out of their mother's womb crying that their tick tock, tick tock, tick tock time has already begun.

From the begin to the end, what important is how one has lead his /  her life. Were they treading their path of life on a straight path ordained by our beloved creator Allah SWT, or were swerving from it time and again, satisfying their worldly lusts.

Taking upon this new job (of 3 months) as an operational manager for a relief organization (www.icnarelief.org) where I interact with lots of refugees on a day to day basis across the world (Burma - Afghanistan - Iraq - Somali - Ghana - Eriteria - Sudan - Nepal - Bhutan .... ), and hearing their stories, leaves one with numbed senses. You get overwhelmed with the kind of calamities they've faced in their lives, and your huge problems looks like a tiny ant before an elephant.

I used to lived with 2 somali refugee teenagers Abdi Mohammad* , Jamal Mohammad* in Houston working for ICNA Relief helping families impacted by
Hurricane IKE. First night of my stay, the elder one Abdi Mohammad shrieks in his sleep , runs amok with eyes closed in deep sleep crashing his way to the hall. It takes nearly an hour for him to come back to normal. His troubled past was haunting him. His younger brother lost his speech, after viewing the murder of his father before his eyes. It took 2 years of speech therapy for the younger one to regain his speech. They were packed in a container from Somalia to Istanbul, Turkey and were rescued by Red Cross to come and sleep in my adjoining room. The trauma they underwent still haunts them. Their mother and 6 other brothers and sisters are still in Yemen refugee camp.

When faced with such clients, I let them open their hearts and make them talk to their heart's content and I listen patiently jotting notes. When done, I tie back their tattered hopes to the strong rope thrown by our beloved creator Allah SWT. I work on building their hopes. I request them to start their prayers again, if they've left it out of anger towards our beloved creator Allah SWT. And I do my best to fulfill their needs.

I came across an Iraqi lady name Hayah* from Iraq, currently working as a cleaner in Walmart. She and her husband Abu Saad* once belonged to the rich and famous publishing group of Baghdad. She related her story to me while I was filling her intake form. She never was exposed to any kind of difficulties in her life. And whenever she had to experience little pain, she used to complain to her husband. And smilingly he used to utter in Arabic, "Innalaha Ma'as Sabireen". our beloved creator Allah SWT is with the patient people. So exercise patience.

Gulf war occurred, and they lost everything. Life forced them to move out of Baghdad to settle down in the refugee camps of Jordan. Abu Saad got a job as a teacher, and she used to live in the camp with her 2 sons. And whenever she would burst out complaining, Abu Saad will repeat the Arabic phrase, "Innalaha Ma'as Sabireen" our beloved creator Allah SWT is with the patient people. So exercise patience.

One day, Abu Saad fell sick and was paralyzed to the bed. She took his job as a teacher. She was also pregnant with her 3rd child. When the 3rd child born, it was diagnosed to be suffering from Down's syndrome. Again Abu Saad uttered the same Arabic Phrase, "Innalaha Ma'as Sabireen" our beloved creator Allah SWT is with the patient people. So exercise patience.

They were picked by Red Cross to travel to Dallas. The family was given a single bedroom dwelling, and they got support only for 3 months. Abu Saad fell severely ill. On his last day, an hour before passing away, seeing his wife crying overwhelmed with problems and pain, he, with much difficulty uttered ""Innalaha Ma'as Sabireen" our beloved creator Allah SWT is with the patient people. So exercise patience.

I noticed there were tears in her eyes narrating her part, yet she was smiling uttering, "Innalaha Ma'as Sabireen" our beloved creator Allah SWT is with the patient people. So exercise patience. She is doing her best to make both ends meet. Her sons aged 14 and 12 are regularly going to school. The last one suffering with Down's syndrome is at home, and she regularly goes to work as a cleaner woman at Walmart.

I am currently working on her case to pay her rental / utility / food assistance. There are several cases similar to Hayah* and Abu Saad* needing all kinds of assistance.

Please be thankful of whatever beloved creator Allah SWT has ordained for you and your family. Don't lust for more. Do your best to help others. My dad used to describe ways to help, one can do in 4 different ways. Help through monetary funds, help through your knowledge, help through your strong physique, If you have nothing, do your best to hook the needy to those who are willing to help.

ICNA Relief Dallas needs your help. Your volunteer hours, your in-kind contribution and your monetary contribution. ICNA Relief Dallas will soon be opening a Food Pantry in the place which is surrounded by 400 refugee families from all parts of the world. The place is booked, work is going on to setup the pantry.

We need 2 refrigerator (freezerless) and an upright deep freezer. One of the brothers who closed down his grocery store donated the whole store for the food pantry. Pray to our beloved creator Allah swt to accept his services and give him in many multitudes in both the world. Aameen.
Please do your best to help tattered souls, and exercise patience, never lose hope with our beloved creator Allah swt, as only He can relieve all our burdens, pains, difficulties.

Thanks for your patient reading.
